Monday, November 2, is an inservice day for teachers. Students will not be in school that day.
Harding Academy will honor all veterans on Wednesday, November 11, in a special Veterans Day assembly. We need your help in two ways: 1. All veterans are invited to our assembly (9:25-10:05). Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, alumni who have served or are serving in any branch of the armed services will be honored. 2. We want photographs of Harding family members who are veterans. There are two ways to deliver the photographs:
Due Date: We are asking for photos next week--before Thursday, October 29. At our assembly on November 11, our A Cappella Chorus and Senior Wind Ensemble will perform, and we will have a guest speaker. We hope Harding family veterans as well as current parents will join us for this wonderful tribute to our veterans. UPDATE (noon Saturday, 10/17/15) Harding defeated King's Academy in substate and will advance to the state tournament in Murfreesboro! Go, Lady Lions! #HardingStrong ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ As regional champs, Harding Lady Lions defeated fourth seed King's Academy (from Knoxville) on Saturday (10/17) in substate at 11:00 in Sisson Gym. TSSAA regulations do not allow school passes (such as student passes) to be used for games at this level. A win for the Lady Lions send them to the state tournament next week in Murfreesboro. The state tournament will be Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Finals are Friday morning at 9:00 at MTSU. If Harding is in the finals, students will be allowed to apply for permission to attend the game. There is a form students will complete, and the form must indicate that the student had nothing lower than C- and S in each class on the first quarter report card, satisfactory attendance, parent permission, and student's commitment to make up the work missed. Transportation is not being provided. St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School continues its SHINE Speaker Series on Tuesday, October 27, with a must-see-presentation for all parents. Assistant U.S. Attorney Deb Ireland presents "The Net You Need to Know: #safeonline - Protecting our Children from the Dangers of Technology." Ms. Ireland is the lead prosecutor for all Cyber-crimes in West Tennessee. She is a wealth of information on the dangers of technology and what to do to keep our children safe. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about cyber safety for your child. The presentation begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Hook Theatre on the St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School campus located at 4830 Walnut Grove Road. There is no charge for admission. For more information, email [email protected] or call 901-435-5818. A big thanks to all the parents who helped make homecoming successful. Many of you helped with nighttime meals for students in grades 9-12. You planned, cooked, hauled, served, and cleaned up. By having dinner provided on campus each night, we are able to keep our students on campus instead of having them run to Wendy's or Taco Bell. We think it's safer for everyone to be on campus, plus the dinners provide us a great time to get to know more parents and for students to get to enjoy each others' company. Thanks to parents who drove campus each night at 9:30 to pick up non-driving students. Thanks for your support and encouragement! We appreciate you! Juniors and sophomores will take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) on the Wednesday we return from fall break (October 14). Students have already been informed about the PSAT and how to prepare. A slide show from College Board provides a review what they need to know as they head into this test. Remember, too, that Khan Academy has partnered with College Board to provide free, individual practice for students. Click here. Fall break is October 5-9 (Monday-Friday). Classes resume on Monday, October 12. Everyone would like to have another day or two, but please do not extend the break into the next week. We have much to do in a busy quarter! Earth's crammed with heaven, Our communications department has taken pictures of students each day at lunch. These pictures are posted on the Harding website and are available to be downloaded or printed. Click here. |
