This is my philosophy about My Big Campus--
- MBC is primarily for the student.
- I have urged teachers not to use MBC to provide so much information that students learn they don’t have to listen.
- I want MBC to be a tool students use to manage their own assignments.
- Certainly, MBC helps parents whose students are absent or whose younger students can't be counted on to keep up with assignments and due dates.
- Unless there is an unusual situation (example: an extended absence for a major health problem), I would not expect parents of high school students ever to look at My Big Campus. Students who are old enough to drive should be managing their own assignments.
- MBC is not a contract. Teachers have the professional liberty to adjust (change an assignment or a deadline) when circumstances change or when it's in the best interests of the students.
- Teachers have guidelines to follow for what is expected of them in MBC, and administrators check the MBC entries regularly.
