From the handbook--
Harding Academy does not routinely excuse absences for visits to college or university campuses. Each student is encouraged to use the school breaks built into Harding’s schedule for making such visits. Occasionally, however, a student is required by the college or university to be on campus for an audition, interview, or placement examination. In addition, there are special days hosted by colleges for student visits, or a visit may require extensive travel. Usually, these absences may be excused for juniors and seniors if adequate notice is given (at least one week) and if the student has a good record of grades and attendance. Students should talk to the head of the upper school (Mrs. Semore) to have a college visit excused. Students must then communicate with their teachers at least a week ahead about their absence and must take the initiative to turn in assignments before they go.
Notice that college visits are excused under these conditions:
Notice, too, that your student has had this information explained to him or her several times and should be able to tell you how college visits operate.

Notice that college visits are excused under these conditions:
- They are for juniors and seniors only.
- Students' visits should be to colleges/universities where they have expressed interest to their college counselor (in Naviance).
- A parent should request an absence from Mrs. Semore at least one week before the college visit.
- Mrs. Webb will get the student paperwork to take around to their teachers and will flag the students in attendance as excused.
- Local college visits should be scheduled after school hours (University of Memphis, Rhodes, CBU, etc.).
Notice, too, that your student has had this information explained to him or her several times and should be able to tell you how college visits operate.
